Brookside Gardens

Brookside Gardens the other weekend on a beautiful day.  Fun with my new lighter camera setup.  Photos uploaded in reverse order and I am ignoring my OCD and letting that be.

Red Toadshade Trillium

The trillium trail across the river (the Potomac) did not disappoint last month on an early morning photo walk.
The red toadshade trillium were just starting to pop out, with the rain drops leftover from the night before still hanging on.

White Trout Lily

On a recent hike, I saw a patch of white trout lilies - unusual because in this region, they are usually yellow.  The other day, I was able to go back with my camera and find them again; it was a treat to be able to sit and bask in their nearly translucent glow.

Spring star flowers

On a breezy afternoon, spring star flowers at the Bishop's Garden at the Washington National Cathedral were a welcome sight.

At the Car Wash

I had the occasion to go through an old-fashioned car wash, the kind where you sit in your car, it moves along the tracks, and you just watch as the suds come pouring down and those really long strips envelop the car.  So naturally, I started snapping photos on my phone.

A new year - snow!

Welcomed 2022 with a hearty snowfall on Monday.
Lots of photography in store for me in the coming months!
My first walk of the day was very snowy, windy, wet and cold.

Then, mid to late afternoon, suddenly the sun popped out and the light was beautiful.

Out my window

The sun got brighter, the skies bluer, and the snow was shimmering.
