Red Toadshade Trillium

The trillium trail across the river (the Potomac) did not disappoint last month on an early morning photo walk.  
The red toadshade trillium were just starting to pop out, with the rain drops leftover from the night before still hanging on.

White Trout Lily

On a recent hike, I saw a patch of white trout lilies - unusual because in this region, they are usually yellow.  The other day, I was able to go back with my camera and find them again; it was a treat to be able to sit and bask in their nearly translucent glow.

On a breezy afternoon, spring star flowers at the Bishop's Garden at the Washington National Cathedral were a welcome sight.
