Back on The Trail

It's been 19 months but finally back on THE trail - the Appalachian Trail :)  Getting back to section hiking, tiny bit by tiny bit, and am now in the roller coaster section somewhere along the border of Loudoun & Clark Counties, VA.

Despite being nearly mid-October, barely a sign of fall in sight - very few leaves have changed color. And not sure if those that have are simply dehydrated.

Lots of rocks and hills.  Better than a stairmaster!  1,700 feet up and down over my 6 miles.

 Glad to be back.

Beauty & calm in the storm

Revisiting my first set of photos with a digital camera 13 years ago.  When the world's gone mad and is being mean, it's comforting to know there can be beauty and kindness and calm even in a storm.  This beauty of a storm was at White Sands National Monument August 2006.

Happy Holidays!

This year, somewhat like this photo, has run the gamut of colors and -- gone by/taken in a rush and without quite sufficient support -- is a bit blurry.  But still beauty to be found in it.  On that note, wishing all my friends and family a very happy holiday season and all the best for 2019.

Fall in Rock Creek Park

Last I posted it was summer, and now it's almost winter.  Rock Creek Park is practically my backyard and I'm always glad to get out and hike in it especially during the fall.

Showy Kenilworth

After a two-year's hiatus I returned to Kenilworth Aquatic Gardens for a delightfully cool July morning.  Almost in peak bloom, the lotus and water lilies did not disappoint.

Fun with Fireworks on the Fourth

A relaxing and enjoyable Fourth with fireworks, brownies and a bit of a breeze to break up the heat and humidity that's been unbearable for the past few days.
